Ask Chuck the Insurance Expert

Dear Chuck,

My family and I were roasting marshmallows when my daughter accidentally flung her burning marshmallow into our camper, catching the rug on fire. Now we’re stuck in the middle of vacation with nowhere to sleep. Is there anything I can do?

Dear Smokey,

I’m very sorry to hear about your RV fire! I hope everyone is okay.

To help you prepare for these types of situations, check to see if your insurance offers Emergency Vacation Expense coverage. This coverage pays for your transportation, hotel, and other temporary related expenses while your RV is being repaired. It can mean the difference between a bad vacation and a great vacation. Vacation protection ensures your precious time off won’t be totally lost by an unfortunate accident.

Although you may spend the time in a hotel rather than at the campsite, who doesn’t love a free continental breakfast every now and then? So while your vacation may have been interrupted, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your insurance company is there for you should such incidents occur.
