Pineapple Inside-Out Donuts

The next time you’re in the mood for something sweet around the campfire, try one of these delicious treats from California camper Donna Mitchell. It’s a delicious take on a traditional pineapple upside down cake!

Ingredients

  • 6 plain cake donuts, sliced in half sideways, like a bagel
  • 6 slices of pineapple, in their own juice
  • Brown sugar
  • 
6 aluminum foil pieces

Instructions

Place one half donut on a piece of foil
. Top with pineapple slice
. Press 2-3 Tbsp. Brown sugar on top of the pineapple
. Place other half of donut on top
. Wrap securely in foil.

Place on grate over hot coals, or on preheated grill
. Cook about 10 minutes, turn over, and cook another 10 minutes. 
 Brown sugar
 should be melted – if not, rewrap and cook a few minutes more.

Unwrap and eat – warning they might be hot.

I have used powdered [donuts] if plain aren’t available,” Donna said. She also suggested using Stevia to reduce the total amount of calories
