Where to Camp for Spring Break

It’s been a long, hard winter, even for our camping friends in those usually warm Southern states.

Spring has yet to arrive, but you know it’s on its way. And don’t the kids still get that “spring break” from school that they so cherish? Maybe now’s the time to consider a change of scenery for your family and plan a Spring Break KOA Camping Getaway.

We know not everyone can pack up and head to Disney World, but that doesn’t mean a great KOA destination isn’t within your reach. And hey, maybe Florida isn’t out of the question!

A KOA Camping Spring Break gives you an affordable way to squeeze the very most out of those few days off. Whether your style is total relaxation, or enjoying what the local area has to offer, camping is a great way to go.

Take a look at a few of these Spring Break suggestions. Remember, these are just a small selection of what awaits you during your KOA Spring Break:

1. San Diego CA: Use the San Diego Metro KOA as your home base for day trips to Sea World, LEGOLAND, the famous San Diego Zoo and Safari Park or a visit to the gold-flecked sands of Coronado Island Beach. The weather is always wonderful and the pool is always open. This KOA has those great Deluxe Cabins so you can camp in comfort.
2. San Francisco, CA: The San Francisco North/Petaluma KOA is all you’ll need for your Spring Break adventure. Of course, if you get tired the comfy Deluxe Cabins, petting zoo, jumping pillow, horseshoes, volleyball and hayrides, you can again try day trips to San Francisco, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Napa, local galleries and even a nearby outlet mall.
3. North Los Angeles, CA: The Ventura Ranch KOA is KOA’s current Rising Star Award Winner. Here, you’ll find two fun zip lines on the property, as well as a climbing wall and jumping pillow. And the park isn’t far away from Ojai and Santa Barbara and Pacific beaches.
4. South Padre Island, TX: At the South Padre Island KOA, you can almost see Mexico. This world-famous resort area is teeming with stuff to do, from the Gulf beaches to the Schlitterbahn Waterpark just down the road. The KOA has Deluxe Cabins that hang out over Laguna Madre Bay, and there are charter fishing excursions and boat tours that leave right from the dock!
5. Gulf Shores, AL: The Gulf Shores/Pensacola West KOA is really part of the Florida Panhandle, with all of those great sugary-white sand beaches the area is famous for. The KOA, right on Perdido Bay, is a natural wonderland, with dolphins often swimming near the dock. The heated saltwater pool is open all year. This could be your favorite hangout on the Gulf.
6. Myrtle Beach, SC: Bring your clubs if you’re planning to stay at the Myrtle Beach KOA. The area is a golfer’s paradise, with more than 100 courses nearby. After a dip in the pool, your still within walking distance of an amusement park, mini golf courses, restaurants and dazzling sand beaches. NASCAR fans will also enjoy the NASCAR Speedpark.
7. Savannah, GA: Stay at the Savannah South KOA and get a taste of Old South history. Check out the Historic District or stay on the park and enjoy the 35-acre fishing lake. Need more water? 8. Orlando, FL: The Kissimmee/Orlando KOA is practically at the steps of Disney World, and nearby are also the Orlando NW/Orange Blossom, Orlando SE/Lake Whippoorwill and Orlando SW/Fort Summit KOAs. Besides Disney, there’s also SeaWorld, Universal Studios, Aquatica and Discovery Cove. This is classic Spring Break country.
